“The Flag” in Irish Cinemas 14th October, 2016

As a huge fan of Pat Shortt I was stunned by the trailer for his latest film – “The Flag” – see what you think.

Pat Shortt is a down on his luck Irish builder living in London with a musical past and a broken heart, who returns to Ireland following the death of his father. As he goes through his late dad’s possessions, he stumbles across a letter from his grandfather saying he was the man who raised the Irish flag over the GPO during the 1916 Rising.

The flag – so the letter claims – is now hanging upside down in an English army barracks, and Harry embarks on a mission to find the flag, bring it home, and fly it above the GPO once again for the commemorations of the Rising,

Can the film really be as bad as the trailer would seem to indicate?

The Flag is on general release in Irish cinemas tomorrow (Oct.14th) but on the basis of what I’ve seen I’ll be waiting for the DVD or a Netflix release.
